Different Types of Coffee
All of the different types of brews and coffee types found
today are usually classified into two varieties – Arabica and
Robusta. These are further divided into sub varieties. For
Arabica, this includes Arusha, Blu Mountain, Bourbon,
Colombian, Ethiopian, Sidamo, Java, Uganda, etc. Robusta beans
are known for being more expensive and more unusual. These
include Kopi Luwak.
In addition to Robusta and Arabica, there are also some
regional varieties used around the world. An example of this is
Kape Barako, a Liberica, which is grown in the Philippines.
Coffee can also be prepared in different ways. One of its
most popular forms is the Espresso. This has a very strong
concentration of coffee. You can make espresso from any variety
of coffee available. However, some varieties and blends may do
well with this than others do.
If you are not a fan of extremely concentrated brews like
the espresso, you can choose to drink a much more diluted form
– the latte. Lattes are made by adding milk to espresso. You
can choose from a variety of milk from non-fat, full cream, and
even some non-dairy products.
If you want something more than the latte, say something
foamier, then you can for the cappuccino. These are known for
their trademark milk foams. You can also choose to take your
coffee cold.
Another element that adds dimension to coffee is how much
the coffee is roasted. Mild roasts produce a mild tasting
beverage while darker roasts produce a much stronger liquid.
You can also choose from caffeinated or decaffeinated
coffee.
Aside from fresh brewed coffee, instant coffee is also a
popular coffee option. Despite being a bestseller, instant
coffee is not so popular among coffee purists because they
believe that the process of making instant coffee takes away
some of the best flavors associated with brewing.
